ANDREA GALER FRSA


Andrea Galer is a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning costume designer and film-maker offering over 30 years of experience in styling for high-profile film and TV projects. She has designed for a versatile and dynamic range of projects for both film and TV such as Withnail and I (1987), Mansfield Park (1999), Bleak House (2005), Jane Eyre (2005), Garrow's Law (2009) and Whitechapel (2011). Her most recent projects screened recently are The Lady Vanishes and The Politician's Husband, both BBC mini-series.

The Jane Austen Centre have commisioned Andrea to design a new costume for the wax sculpture created by Mark Richards (formerly senior sculptor at Madame Tussauds) to be installed later this year. Based on the research of forensic artist Melissa Dring culminating in the creation of a unique, life-size waxwork model of Jane Austen.

Films and events this year include Withnail and I where Andrea has teamed up with Paul Higgins, a Withnail enthusiast, together developing a project in Liverpool connecting 'Withnail and I' fans to a network of projects evolved from Andrea's work connecting the ethics behind her costume and fashion collections. Fashion Store She also continues to design garments for her own fashion label, offering a ‘bespoke’ service on garments based both on Period and Contemporary designs.
