Latest News Costumes from 'Jane Eyre' Andrea Galer has recently been awarded an EMMY in recognition of her outstanding costume design for the BBC production of 'Jane Eyre' starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stevenson. Costume Andrea Galer is a high-profile film costume and fashion designer with numerous credits to her name. She designed the famous Withnail coat worn by Richard E Grant in 'Withnail And I', and her recent television work includes the acclaimed 'Bleak House', 'Persuasion' and 'Jane Eyre'. Film to Fashion With 30 years experience of the film world Andrea has fused her film and fashion expertise to create a unique contemporary fashion label AG. Her current bridal, evening and lounge wear collections profile ethical fair trade lace, as do her costumes from 'Persuasion' and 'Jane Eyre'. This lace is made by crafts women in Galle, Sri Lanka. Exhibitions, events and documentaries By producing touring costume exhibitions of her work together with films that she produces, Andrea brings awareness to the skills the film industry takes for granted. Unless we educate future generations, these skills will disappear; impacting on both lifestyle and the environment. Passion Andrea is passionate about preserving traditional crafts and has set up Power Of Hands Foundation to support the survival of crafts and those who struggle to survive outside of mass production. POHF is currently focussing on the lacemakers who were victims of the tsunami (left). She is also very involved in using film as education and has built up a series of costume exhibitions that have been on show around the country. |
