TRADING THROUGH HISTORY - PILOT FILM 24th January 2012 Andrea Galer, who designed the costumes for the forthcoming Whitechapel 3, photographed and filmed the stars Rupert Penry-Jones (CHANDLER) and Camilla Power (DI NORROY) to promote her latest film project. Stills from the shoot can be seen here. Andrea is planning the production of a series of six documentary films about ethical trading in textiles and is aiming to shoot the pilot in the next few weeks. The handmade silk lace, which is worn by the actors in the latest photo shoot, was all ethically produced via The Power of Hands Foundation. The foundation was founded by Andrea five years ago in the wake of the tsunami in Sri Lanka. The charity was set up to provide impoverished female craft workers and survivors of the Tsunami with facilities and training. It aims to help the workers out of poverty by becoming self-sufficient, as well as striving to preserve the traditional crafts and skills that are sadly dying out in today’s ‘mass production’ world. You can view the case study for the Sri Lanka lace project here. The shoot took place at Waterloo Studios, London. The photographer was Chris Bissell and the video HD shot by regular Waterloo Studios users Peter Chipping and Trevor Rogers from Stingray Productions Follow Andrea Galer on Facebook and Twitter for all of our latest news.
