WITHNAIL AND HARRIS TWEED
The 'Withnail Coat' made with Harris Tweed 20 years ago was a fabric taken for granted. Weavers for the coat, knitters for Paul Magann’s sweaters, Monty’s socks were all made in Scotland and could be purchased in Bond Street but today they're gone from the high street .
The specialist craft of hand weaving of Harris Tweed remains in the hands of just 130 self employed weavers who fear their means of making a living is in danger, following a significant reduction in the production of Harris Tweed by the island mills.
The Association of Harris Tweed Weavers has been formed to try to reinvigorate the craft and form a voice for the weavers.
Beautifully tailored, this iconic coat is available made-to-order or Bespoke.
Made to order £895.00 inc vat. plus P+P
Men's sizes: Small, Medium, Large and XLarge.
Women's sizes: 10, 12, 14.
Basic measurements needed - height, waist, nape ( pertruding bone at base of neck) to waist, sleeve length - top of arm to required length.
Bespoke service, with personal fittings in London £1500.00
